Follows Yingshun's comment - we need more evidence on our homepage that we're 'alive'

Yesterday Kerry, Chris and I were talking about using Drupal to content manage a flash site.
This was mainly for Empire.

We were a bit unclear about whether it was really possible in the time frame and whether we might have to outsource.

So this morning I came in done some tests. And... they worked :)

So here we have an example of flash picking up my shops product list via an xml feed.

From Aneta - Was just reading a bit from your blogs and news. One thing I would change is to make the hyperlinked text to pop out more. For example on the post below I can’t see what the link is:

I need a more versatile home page, but I will need Vince's help to get me up and running. Essentially I need to port the current page into panels and start from there to evolve the home page we need. Would be great if we could have a go at this today, assuming it's no more than an hours work for VR to at least get the basics in place.

Having installed the module that checks for security/module updates, we're out of date all over the place. So a) we need to update - maybe I can do this over the weekend /(is this wise Vince, or do you need to do it?)/ and b) Kat and I need to think about this from the point of view of offering support packages.

KH - We need to sort out one or two alternative images for the top header - so we can rotate with the current one and test bounce rates. /Kerry - you need to help us here and choose some./

SW/AK - Any SEO stuff that we can implement that will help our natural listings.

CG/KH - I also think that a bit of styles love on the blog/news bits would be good.

Need to populate the Intranet with documents and a little bit of interest and love.

Added printer friendly pages module - but it shows a link on the home page :-(. Need to figure out how to suppress this - otherwise it wroks just fine - even added a back on white custom logo

We need to resolve the WYSIWYG editor. As a content manager, I'm still torn between the 3 we have which all seem to have virtues compared with the others but all of them also cause me heartache. Foolishly, I haven't documented the issues and it's always the case that you get pissed off with one and switch to another and it all seems fine until.... (repeat several times). I will try to create this pros/cons list and see where we go.

WYSIWYG grief-list

TinyMCE

- doesn't let me do heading tags correctly

- doesnt always load the stylesheet

FCK Editor

- preferred by Kat

- can't get it to reference the bloody editor stylesheet - and hence isn't wysiwyg at all

WYSIWYG Pro

- fucked cos the module isn't finished yet - hardly supports any features

Sort out issue where some menus do not stay highlighted
